JACUZZI
INSTALLATION
____________________
When contemplating a jacuzzi hot
tub 'do it yourself' project probably the most important consideration would be to ensure that you have a
flat, level and solid base to sit the jacuzzi on. This base must be the same size or larger than your
jacuzzi hot tub. Concrete slabs reinforced with material such a rebar is
ideal. One can also use an existing patio area if the foundation of the patio is of an acceptable load
bearing capacity and set in cement as opposed to sand. Timber decking can also be a
consideration. A jacuzzi hot tub spa should never set on grass or
the bare earth.
Accessibility to your new spa is also an important factor.
Ensuring that you do not have any large walls or very steep slopes are extremely important if your new
jacuzzi hot tub spa is a molded, one unit spa. These styles of hot tubs are delivered on a large flat
bed truck and oft times will require the use of a crane to set the spa in place. Of course this will
not be a problem if you are purchasing a 'soft sided' spa.
If you are considering an indoor installation ensure that the floor is
level and will be able to withstand the weight of the hot tub, spa, water and occupants. Jacuzzi hot tub spas should never be installed on laminate flooring or
carpeting. Non slip ceramic tile flooring is ideal.
When considering an indoor installation it is also important that the
room will have good ventilation so that the spas moisture will not adversely affect the ceiling and
walls. You might need to think about purchasing a dehumidifier to help with the ventilation. This
is especially important if you are installing your spa in a building such as a log cabin. Most jacuzzi
hot tub spas need to be emptied every 12 – 14 weeks thus there must be adequate drainage facilities
nearby. Hot tubs all have a drain valve that is located on one side of the spa, near the
bottom.
The filling of a jacuzzi hot tub spa is also an important part of the
installation process. Access to an ordinary garden hose is very important. If you are aware of low
water pressure in your home consideration should then be taken with regards to the amount of time it is going
to take to fill your jacuzzi hot tub spa.
The proper electrical supply for your new jacuzzi hot tub spa is a
crucial part of installation. Your new spa will come with the correct amperage plug. However, you
will need to ensure that a socket is available for this plug. You must have your spa set up on it's own
electrical circuit, per your local city, county and/or state electrical codes. If you are not a
qualified electrician be sure and obtain one to ensure the circuity is installed properly to ensure your new
spa's warranty is not compromised.
